KHOWST PROVINCE, Afghanistan – British soldiers with the office of the Legal Advisor for the International Security Assistance Force Joint Command, trained paratroopers from the 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, Task Force Spartan, on theater rules of engagement Dec 21.
The training focused on how to improve the joint targeting process, while minimizing civilian casualties.
The training was to ensure that leaders in the 4th ABCT have the ability to quickly prosecute targets in keeping with command directive and the law of armed conflict, said British Army Maj. Rob Hollinrake of the Royal Regiment of Artillery.
Task Force Spartan is replacing the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Task Force Duke in Khowst and Paktya provinces.
“This training is outstanding,” said U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Adam Chacon, a fire support specialist paratrooper from Phoenix, Ariz. with the 1st Squadron, 40th Cavalry Regiment, TF Spartan. “It allows us to focus on the counter insurgency fight and put the people first which is imperative to our mission.”
This marks TF Spartan’s second deployment to Khost province and the third deployment for the Army’s newest Airborne Brigade Combat Tam.
