FORT KNOX, Ky. - U.S. Army NASCAR driver Ryan Newman came from two laps down to finish 16th in Sunday's AAA Texas 500 Sprint Cup race at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth.

Newman remains 12th in the Chase driver point standings with two Sprint Cup races remaining -- Nov. 13 at Phoenix International Raceway and Nov. 20 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

After an idle weekend, the NHRA U.S. Army Racing team of Top Fuel drivers Tony Schumacher and Antron Brown will close out the 2011 season this coming weekend -- Nov. 10-13 at Auto Club Raceway in Pomona, Calif.

Brown enters the season finale third in the Top Fuel standings, only 14 points behind leader Spencer Massey. Schumacher, a seven-time world champion, is fifth in points.

As a Veterans Day tribute, the U.S. Army Racing cars for Schumacher and Newman will be adorned with more than 350 faces of Army Vietnam veterans during this weekend's NHRA and NASCAR races. The Army race teams are honoring the Veterans for their service and sacrifice during the Vietnam conflict that started 50 years ago.
