URUZGAN, Afghanistan - Afghan National Security Forces medics, advised and assisted by coalition special operations forces medics conducted a medical clinic in the Khas Uruzgan district, Aug. 8 through Sept. 8.

According to district reports, the clinic is open to treat local citizens for acute cases, emergency care and patients who received referral slips from the Khas Uruzgan district clinic.

"The people in Khas Uruzgan come to receive treatment from ANSF medics, which shows their confidence in the ability of Afghan medical providers," said a coalition special operations forces team leader.

An Afghan National Army medic said that the clinic is also used by members of the ANA as an opportunity to train their medical counterparts.

"We love to cross train and teach basic medical skills and knowledge to other Afghan medical providers," said an ANA team medic.

The clinic is staffed with members of the ANSF as well as coalition medics who assist in teaching advanced medical techniques, said a local district official.

"ANSF medics are heavily involved in all cases that are received during the clinic," said a coalition medic. "Local citizens recognize ANSF medics as being knowledgeable and capable providers of safety and medical care for the people of Afghanistan."
