KANDAHAR, Afghanistan – The Police Training Academy at Camp Nathan Smith graduated 16 Afghan National Police from the Field Training Education Officer Course, June 30.
“The people of Kandahar expect you to be hard working and honest,” said Brig. Gen. Poh Zarifi, the commander of the Regional Training Center of Kandahar, when he spoke to graduates.
The five week course focused on developing lesson plans, finding objectives and goals, training and grading student officers and helped officers develop presentation skills.
“The skills we learned are excellent and will help the people of Kandahar,” said the course honor graduate to his fellow classmates.
This is an important graduation because now these police officers can go back to their regional training centers and teach their fellow officers in a professional manner, said Matti Kiuru, training advisor with DynCorp’s Police Training Support Cell.
The graduation was attended by International Security and Assistance Forces and Afghan media.
In his closing remarks to the graduates, Zarifi said, “It’s your duty to bring the smiles back to the faces of Kandahar; be kind to them.”
