Kandahar Air Wing Aerial Port Gets Passenger Seating

KANDAHAR AIR FIELD, Afghanistan - On March 24, members of the 443th Air Expeditionary Advisory Squadron and the Kandahar Air Wing Aerial Porters, also known as the “Port Dawgs,” worked together taking advantage of passenger terminal seating being disposed of by the local Air Mobility Command passenger terminal to professionalize and expand their terminal areas.

The “Port Dawgs” removed tattered cushioning on the seats and either repaired damaged seats or cannibalized from other seats. Their efforts added 30 seat sets and 120 individual seats to the terminal. The left-over seating was dispersed to other high-traffic areas in the Aerial Port building.

Taking advantage of this opportunity saved approximately $6,500 in purchase costs and one to two months of in processing and shipment time. Overall, the outbound personnel holding area was completed on time and open for business.
