Ghazni leaders address media after visiting Poland

GHAZNI PROVINCE, Afghanistan - Gov. Musa Khan of Ghazni Province, Polish Brig. Gen. Andrzej Przekwas, Task Force White Eagle commander, and Polish ambassador to Afghanistan, Maciej Lang, held a press conference Oct. 9 to address a recent visit to Poland by Ghazni Province representatives.

Khan concluded his week-long visit to Poland Oct. 2. The visit was at the invitation of Polish Foreign Minister, Radoslaw Sikorski.

Khan visited the nation with Afghan Deputy Minister for Administration and Finance, Abdul Malik Sediqi, and other representatives of Ghazni Province and districts, to become acquainted with the function of Polish national government and local government systems.

During their stay, the Afghan visitors were in Warsaw, Gdańsk, Czosnów and Grodzisk Mazowiecki.

They also met with the U.S. ambassador to Poland, Lee A. Feinstein.

The delegation visited a primary school in Czosnow, where they had a direct opportunity to become familiar with the function of the Polish education system, providing insight to the projects aimed at improving the education system in Ghazni, one of the key objectives of the Ghazni Provincial Reconstruction Team.

Khan said during the press conference, the delegation’s particular interest was distribution of responsibility between different levels of local administration, selection process and the term of office of local authorities.
