KC-10s Continue U.S. Central Command Air Refueling Ops

SOUTHWEST ASIA -- A KC-10 Extender assigned to the 908th Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron at a non-disclosed location in Southwest Asia flies off for a combat air refueling mission on Feb. 5.

The KC-10 is used extensively for air refueling operations in the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom, the Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa, and Operation Enduring Freedom.

In 2009, KC-10s from the 908th EARS offloaded more than 422 million pounds of fuel on more than 4,700 combat sorties. The 908th EARS is an attached unit of the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing.
