VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Sailors, family members and civilian DoD contractors had the opportunity to attend an educational fair at Naval Air Station Oceana's Navy College Office on May 1 to learn about various educational opportunities available and get on the right track to earning a college degree.

"This particular event is available so the attendees can address their concerns with several colleges and universities and see which schools better suit their needs," said Director, Navy College Office NAS Oceana, Sharen Richardson. "This fair is an awesome deal, because it gives them several choices under one roof."

Representatives from more than 30 colleges and universities set up displays and spoke about taking advantage of educational opportunities while still in the Navy and the options they have when they get out.

Several attendees expressed their gratitude toward the Navy College Office for hosting the event.
"I am grateful that the Navy expresses how important education is and brings different schools on board to help us understand everything we need to get started," said Seaman Andrew Placido.

As the event concluded, Navy College Learning Center facilitators made sure to let the attendees know that if they needed further assistance to come see them.

"The Navy College center is here for Sailors to help get their education started or to further it in general no matter what base you are on," said facilitator Elena Nunez. "If you are struggling to find the answers, do not hesitate to give your local Navy College center a call."
