KABUL, Afghanistan – A joint Afghan national police and International Security Assistance Force operation delivered supplies to the people in Shajoy District, Zabul province recently.

During Operation SUNSET, ANP and ISAF soldiers met with village elders and distributed food and clothes. The Romanian Battalion commander went to the school in Shajoy together with Abdul Qayoum, the district leader, and the ANP. They held discussions with the teachers and were told that the teaching process was going well.

"This school is considered to be a high school and it has approximately 1,300 students", said Qayoum. "We have a lot of children who come to this school, but the winter will have an impact on junior classes".

The children received bags of school supplies, which had been donated by the Romanian organization "Save the Children." Families also received food supplies, blankets and winter clothes. This operation was a step toward preparing the villages for the forthcoming winter months.

"We want to thank you for your help; it is very good to have the joint forces here in Shajoy to help our people," said Qayoum. "We are supportive of the Afghan government, the ANSF and ISAF because they provide stability and security in our district."
