BOSSIER CITY, La. – The 1083rd Transportation Company in Minden, La., along with many other Louisiana National Guard units across the state, designated their first week of annual training as "community action week." The soldiers of the 1083rd spent their week helping out at the Northwest Louisiana Food Bank, Louisiana Job Services, and even held their own free car wash in order to be more visible to their community.

"We depend on volunteers to distribute food to participants in our Seniors Program, but were running about four months behind," said Lacey Barr, Senior Program Coordinator for the Food Bank, whose son Raymond is a member of the 1083rd. "These soldiers coming in with their trucks and hard work have been a huge help to us."
