BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan – Afghan national security forces planned and executed two humanitarian-aid operations in Kandahar province late last month.

The Afghan national army 205th Corps delivered needed supplies to more than 400 people in remote villages.

"We have been working with the ANSF for several months and these humanitarian operations are conducted with minimal assistance from us," said a coalition forces soldier.

The humanitarian operations gave the ANSF a chance to talk with many village elders, mullahs and citizens in the area.

"We want to provide our children and local populace with the humanitarian assistance they need; this is a welcome difference from how the Taliban has treated our people," the coalition commander said.

The ANSF spent time with children teaching them about the Quran and listening to their concerns.

"We have been working hard to establish a good relationship with the local population and believe this time and energy spent has more than paid off," the commander said. "We also stressed to the villagers elders and citizens that coalition Soldiers are here at the invitation of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to assist us in bringing peace and stability to the people of Afghanistan."
