Cadre in focus: Sgt. Eric Roman

FORT KNOX, Ky. – Sgt. Eric Roman currently serves as an instructor for the basic rifle marksmanship committee, Task Force Wolf, during Cadet Summer Training on Fort Knox, Kentucky.

The course instructors teach the cadets the fundamentals of BRM, facilitate the mechanical zero process, and coach them through the grouping, zeroing and qualification with their assigned M16 rifle.

Roman, a Jersey City, N.J., native, finds great satisfaction in this opportunity to shape future leaders of the Army.

“I have worked on other committees in support of LDAC [Leader Development and Assessment Course] before but this role has been different for me. As NCOs, we are out in the field and have hands on experience but these cadets don’t. Being an instructor on this range gives me a chance to share my skills and experience with them,” he said. “This is more gratifying from an NCO's perspective. Through the training and coaching, we ensure they are successful down the road when they are leading Soldiers.”
