188th Army Band to play ND anniversary concert in Fargo

FARGO, N.D. - In honor of the state's 125th birthday, the North Dakota National Guard's 188th Army Band will be performing a summer concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 26, at Island Park in downtown Fargo, North Dakota. The event is free and open to the public.

The band's hourlong performance will include a mix of patriotic music, classic wind band performances and popular music tunes for all ages. Among the selections that will be played during the concert are "The Star-Spangled Banner," "America the Beautiful" and "God Bless America."

An ice cream social will run concurrently with the concert. The Gilbert C. Grafton American Legion Post 2 and Auxiliary, of Fargo, will be serving ice cream at no cost to attendees.

The mission of the 188th Army Band is to provide music throughout the full spectrum of military operations and to instill in Soldiers the will to fight and win, to foster the support of citizens, to promote national interests at home and abroad and to entertain audiences. The band is led by 1st Sgt. Bradley Reed, of West Fargo, North Dakota, the acting commander and enlisted bandleader, as well as Sgt. 1st Class Donald Nagle, of Grand Forks, North Dakota, enlisted conductor and director of musical operations.
