H&HS Commanding Officer Relinquishes Command

MARINE CORPS AIR STATION MIRAMAR, Calif. – Lt. Col. Daniel J. Levasseur relinquished command of Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron to Lt. Col. Mitchell A. Criger during a change of command ceremony aboard Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Calif., July 18.

Levasseur took command of H&HS in May 2012, and is slated to take over as detachment commander for Marine Fixed Wing Transport Squadron aboard MCAS Miramar.

During his time as the commanding officer, Levasseur’s mission was more than just supporting 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing air operations but also areas such as mess hall and administrative work.

“You Marines have made this command tour absolutely epic and a hallmark in my career,” said Levasseur during the change of command ceremony.

Criger, commanding officer, previously worked as the enlisted monitor section head in the Enlisted Assignments Branch for Plans, Policies and Operations at Headquarters Marine Corps, Manpower and Reserve Affairs in Quantico, Va.

“I’m so privileged and honored to be here,” said Criger. “It’s a great opportunity for any Marine officer to command Marines.”

Criger offered some words to the Marines now under his charge.

“The Marines can look forward to continued excellence,” remarked Criger. “Lt. Col Levasseur left a great legacy in this squadron, I plan to continue that.”
