CLR-25 welcomes new commanding officer

CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. - The Marines and sailors of Combat Logistics Regiment 25, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, II Marine Expeditionary Force welcomed their new commanding officer, Col. Kevin J. Stewart, during a change of command ceremony here, June 4.

Stewart accepted the regimental colors from Col. Terrence A. O’Connell, the outgoing commanding officer of CLR-25, before addressing the men and women under his command.

“Today is really about the tremendous leadership of Col. O’Connell and the outstanding Marines of this regiment,” said Stewart. “It is an honor and a privilege to serve as your commanding officer.”

Prior to assuming command of CLR-25, Stewart was assigned to Installations and Logistics, Headquarters Marine Corps, where he served as the branch head for Logistics Vision and Strategy and later as the branch head for Logistics Policy and Capabilities.

Stewart received his commission in 1991 and served the Marine Corps around the world in places such as Haiti, Japan, Iraq and Afghanistan.

“I could not have asked for a better officer,” said O’Connell during his farewell address. “The Marines and sailors behind us represent the regiment. They have done a great job … I want to thank you all. We have some great leaders out there [in the regiment] as well. This is a great command you’ve just taken over.”

O’Connell assumed command of CLR-25 in July 2012 and lead the regiment in its mission to provide support across II Marine Expeditionary Force.
