McBride receives Superior Civilian Service Award

BAGRAM, Afghanistan – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Transatlantic Afghanistan District’s Deputy Chief of Contracting John J. McBride received the Superior Civilian Service Award from the District commander, Col. Michael Price during a May 16 awards ceremony at Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan.

McBride, a resident of Baltimore, Md., received the award, signed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Transatlantic Division Commander Maj. Gen. Michael Eyre, for exceptional meritorious service to the District, from May 18, 2013 to May 31, 2014 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

His hard work enabled the contracting team to support the execution of over $1 billion and over 200 projects.

McBride’s outstanding professionalism, dedication to the mission and selfless service reflects great credit upon himself, the Transatlantic Afghanistan District, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the United States Army.

The Superior Civilian Service Award is the third highest Department of the Army honorary award granted by any Commander and nominations reflect superior service or achievement.
