Lt. Col. Dickerson receives Bronze Star medal

BAGRAM, Afghanistan –Lt. Col. Duane R. Dickerson received the Bronze Star medal during an award ceremony at Bagram Air Base, May 13 for his support of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Transatlantic Afghanistan District.

Dickerson was recognized for exceptionally meritorious service as the Kabul Area Office Deputy OIC, Project Manager, Kabul Area Program Manager, and Member of the IJC Construction Integration Fusion Cell.

While deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from August 16, 2013 to May 28, 2014, Dickerson touched over 125 projects with a combined value of over $750 million.

The medal was presented on behalf of Transatlantic Division Commander Maj. Gen. Michael Eyre, by the Transatlantic Afghanistan District Commander Col. Michael Price.

The bronze star medal is an individual military award of the U.S armed forces. It is awarded for acts of heroism, merit or meritorious service in a combat zone. When awarded for acts of heroism, the medal is awarded with a combat distinguishing device. The Bronze Star is the fourth highest combat decoration and the 10th highest U.S. military award.

Dickerson’s outstanding professionalism, dedication to mission and selfless service reflects great credit upon himself, the Transatlantic Afghanistan District, the United States Army Corps of Engineers.

He also received the Afghanistan Campaign and NATO medals.
