HOUSTON — The Coast Guard located a missing 31-year-old man early Monday morning and brought him ashore after a report from his fiance stating he didn't turn up Sunday night from his transit from Bridge Bait Marina to Horseshoe Bend Marina.
At approximately 9 p.m., the man's fiance called Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders and reported that her fiance left Bridge Bait Marina at 7 p.m., on his jet ski, and hadn't arrived to his destination of Horseshoe Bend Marina.
The Coast Guard launched a boatcrew aboard a 25-foot Response Boat — Small from Station Freeport and an aircrew aboard a MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Air Station Houston to locate the man. The man was located in good condition at approximately 1:30 a.m. near Grassy Point, North of Chocolate Bayou, and was taken back to Ellington Field by the aircrew.
"We were able to saturate the area where the man was reported to be overdue and locate him fairly quickly because of the specific locations that his fiance provided to us," said Petty Officer 1st Class Drew Dazzo, an aviation survival technician at Air Station Houston.
"It's always important when you're on the water to have a float plan and to let family or friends know where you plan to transit because if anything does go wrong, like in this case, chances are better when we have a good idea of where to start looking."
