BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan – Afghan citizens from Shkin Village, Bermel District, Paktika province, reported the locations of three improvised explosive devices to Afghan national security forces and coalition forces, Oct. 8.

After receiving the information, the ANSF-led forces rapidly located and secured the area. Once the area was secure the citizens pinpointed the locations of three anti-tank mines surrounded by anti-personnel mines. According to the ANSF, the IEDs were booby-trapped to detonate when ANSF and coalition forces attempted to recover or defuse them. All three IEDs were defused in the area.

"The Afghan populace is exhausted of the damage brought about by the Taliban and foreign fighter insurgents," said Army Maj. Chris Belcher, a Combined Joint Task Force-82 spokesman. "Information provided by Afghan civilians is a significant indication that there is growing support for the IRoA."
