PARWAN PROVINCE, Afghanistan - Fifth Special Operations Kandak commandos conducted a clearing operation and key leader engagement in Sar-E Pul district, Sar-E Pul province.

This was the first operation commandos have conducted with Afghan National Police women.

Although no arrests were made, the utilization of female ANP provided information which resulted in detailed questioning of known Taliban facilitators.

The significance of inserting women into the ranks allows the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to further harness the capabilities of the other half of the population and take steps toward a more independent, safe and secure Afghanistan.
