ANASOC conducts clearance missions in Southern, Eastern regions

PARWAN, Afghanistan – Commandos partnered with coalition advisors conducted a clearance mission in Maiwand District, Kandahar Province in order to disrupt insurgent operations.

The 3rd Special Operations Kandak recovered three AK47 rifles, an M16 assault rifle with optics, a grenade, two pistols, and 10 magazines from a Maiwand village.

The patrol was attacked multiple times by insurgents using small-arms, PKM machine guns, and recoilless rifles, which resulted in three insurgents being killed by the partnered force.

Two other Afghan and coalition advised clearance missions concluded yesterday in the southern and eastern regions.

One was conducted by 3rd SOK commandos, District Governor Hadji Galib, an Afghan local police commander and a provincial response company in Nangarhar Province resulting in 5 insurgents being killed.

Finally, Afghan soldiers from 205th Corps and Afghan National Army Special Forces cleared a village in Bahar District, Zabul Province to provide security in the region.

ANASOC are an elite security force who specialize in internal defense, direct action, special reconnaissance, counterinsurgency, and civil-military operations.
