Dix announced as next DLA Distribution commander

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. - The director for strategy and integration in the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army, Logistics, has been named as the new commander of Defense Logistics Agency Distribution.

Army Col. Richard Dix was nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general and is scheduled to take command May 29.

“Rich has served in several key logistical assignments at Army Sustainment Command, 401st Army Field Support Brigade and Army Materiel Command, making him a great fit for DLA,” DLA Director Navy Vice Adm. Mark Harnitchek wrote in a message to the agency’s senior leaders.

Dix, a native of Atlanta, was commissioned in 1987 after graduating from South Carolina State with a bachelor’s degree in marketing.

Dix assumed his current duties in August 2013. Prior to that, he served as the executive officer to the Army’s deputy chief of staff for logistics from July 2012 to August 2013. From July 2010 to July 2012, Dix served as the Army Sustainment Command’s chief of staff. From July 2009 to July 2010, he commanded the 401st Army Field Support Brigade in Bagram, Afghanistan.

Dix attended Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., and also holds a master’s degree in procurement and acquisition management from Webster University. Dix is a 2009 graduate of the Industrial College of the Armed Forces.
