Georgia Air National Guardsmen return from Operation Enduring Freedom/New Dawn

BRUNSWICK, Ga. - Airmen from the 224th Joint Communications Support Squadron returned to Brunswick after six months of providing critical communication support to various missions in the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility.

The 224th JCSS is a Georgia Air National Guard unit aligned to the Joint Enabling Capabilities Command’s Joint Communications Support Element.

The Brunswick-based unit has been continuously deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom since November 2001, Operation Iraqi Freedom since March 2003 and the follow-on Iraq mission, Operation New Dawn, since September 2010.

Unit members deployed to assist numerous forces and units assigned to USCENTCOM, U.S. Special Operations Command and the International Security Assistance Force.

The dedicated airmen of the 224th JCSS continue to successfully support the JCSE mission for Operation New Dawn and other assignments in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
