PAKTIKA PROVINCE, Afghanistan— Afghan security forces seized insurgent weapons and improvised explosive devices during a presence patrol in Orgun district, Paktika province, March 13.
An Afghan Village Response Unit commander said his unit engineers breached a small, subterranean room and discovered four IEDs, 200 IED fuses, two rocket propelled grenades launchers, 14 rocket propelled grenades, a SPG-9 Russian made anti-tank recoilless rifle, seven 82 millimeter mortar rounds and a Russian made heavy machine gun along with an unknown quantity of explosive material.
The VRU also destroyed the IEDs onsite.
The Afghan led operation included coalition adviser participation.
