KANDAHAR AIRFIELD, Afghanistan – Eighteen members of the Afghan National Police’s Regional Logistics Center graduated recently from a 2-week property management course at Joint Regional Afghan National Police Center in Kandahar province, Afghanistan.
The course is designed to teach Afghan police members property management skills including how to manage property books and how to inventory, issue and gather receipts for equipment.
The two instructors of the course, Jim Pritt and Carter Alexander, and service members from both coalition and Afghan forces, celebrated the successful completion of the course for the 18 Afghan police members during a ceremony on March 5, 2014.
“This whole process is geared toward teaching Afghans how to better manage their property,” Alexander said, adding that he hopes the graduates would pass on the knowledge to their fellow countrymen.
During the ceremony, Pritt encouraged the graduates during a speech and said he learned as much from the students as they learned from him.
“It’s my sincere wish that you take this training forward and develop from it,” he said.
Similar classes take place all over Afghanistan, where the International Security Assistance Force has made gains in training Afghans on better property management procedures. Service members from ISAF’s Logistics Training Advisory Team have been working directly with the RLC in Kandahar province.
Navy Captain Peterson N. Decker, the officer-in-charge of LTAT, attended the graduation and addressed the Afghan police members graduating from the course.
“I am very honored to celebrate this very special occasion,” he said. “We have been following each day the work and the studies and the learning which you have been conducting here, which is so important for your careers and for the safety of this wonderful country.”
Army Captain Kent Pressley, an RLC senior advisor, works directly with Lt. Col. Khan Nadir, the commander of RLC in Kandahar province. Both attended the graduation and handed out certificates to graduating students.
“You should not forget this course,” Khan said. “You should learn these things and (teach) your other brothers in the future. We should help each other.”
