Spartans’ Cavalry volunteers for national nutritional endeavor

FORT STEWART, Ga. - Soldiers of the 3rd Squadron, 7th U.S. Cavalry Regiment “Garryowen,” 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team “Spartans,” 3rd Infantry Division, visited the Midway Middle School in Midway, Ga., March 3.

The soldiers were there to help serve the students breakfast, promoting nutritional awareness along with the school faculty during the School Nutritional Association’s weeklong program, National School Breakfast Week.

According to the SNA’s website, this year’s NSBW theme is “Take Time for School Breakfast.”

The goal of the program is to, “Spread the word to parents and students that school breakfast is convenient, healthy and a real time saver,” according to the SNA’s website.

The Garryowen soldiers were not the only ones to support the SNA’s efforts by serving breakfast to children at a local school. In fact, most of the Spartan brigade, and many other subordinate units within the 3rd ID did so as well.
