Michigan State Police Officer Receives Award From Michigan National Guard

AUGUSTA, Mich. — Tony Garcia of Adrian, has been recognized as the Person of the Year by the 51st Civil Support Team of the Michigan National Guard. Garcia is the program manager for the Emergency Management Homeland Security Training Center with the Michigan State Police at the Lansing secondary complex.

Garcia, a retired firefighter from the Adrian Fire Department, has been with the MSP for 26 years. He was instrumental in assisting with the training and development of the 51st CST since its inception in 2000. The award was presented at Fort Custer Training Center by Maj. Gen. Burton Francisco, commander of the 46th MP Command in Lansing, and first commander of the CST.

Garcia is a graduate of Sienna Heights University in Adrian and holds a BA in Public Safety/HazMat.

Also in attendance was Garcia’s wife, Dee, their two sons, Manuel and Gabriel, and daughter-in-law, Kim.
