What's to come: Maintenance Bn. holds town hall for Marines, families

MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. - Leaders with 2nd Maintenance Battalion, Combat Logistics Regiment 25, 2nd Marine Logistics Group hosted a town hall meeting for service members and their families at the Base Theater here, Jan. 14.

The unit used the meeting to discuss what happened last year, what is planned for this year and what support is available to military families stationed here.

During the first half of the meeting Lt. Col. Craig Clemans, the commanding officer of 2nd Maintenance Bn., 2nd MLG, outlined global conflicts, as well as the Marine Corps' overall readiness to respond at a moment’s notice.

Then, the battalion’s operations officer took the stage to discuss the 2014 schedule of events, which will prepare Marines and their families for what is to come.

Finishing up the night was the family readiness officer, along with six other presenters, who discussed resources available to Marines and their families.

“My intent was to drive home the imperative for our Marines to be ready to answer the clarion call of our nation at any time,” said Clemans. “To pause and reflect on the year that’s passed so we may clearly see the context from which level to set the year ahead.”

This was the second town hall meeting the battalion has held, and Clemans would like them to continue having it every January.

“The town hall meeting provides an opportunity to reflect on the year that’s passed and thank the Marines for their hard work,” said Clemans. “It is also an expression of my respect for each Marine, by clearly communicating my intent for the year ahead and affording them a chance to ask questions they can gain understanding.”

Clemans also expressed his thanks to the approximately 300 spouses who attended the meeting in support of their Marine and the battalion’s mission.
