NIAGARA FALLS AIR RESERVE STATION, N.Y. - Airmen from the 914th Airlift Wing deployed Jan. 9 to Southwest Asia in support of contingency operations.

More than 100 airmen from the Operations and Maintenance are traveling to perform their squadron duties such as maintaining aircraft, medical evacuations, and delivering combat cargo such as food, water, ammunition and medical supplies critically necessary to service members fighting in remote areas in that part of the world.

"Our western New York reservists are trained to the same readiness levels as active-duty airmen," said Col. Walter Gordon, 914th Airlift Wing commander. "They leave fully prepared to maintain and employ our C-130 aircraft in support of USCENTCOM objectives across its broad spectrum of warfighter roles."
