BAGRAM PROVINCE, Afghanistan – Seventeen recruits graduated from Afghan Local Police training Jan. 4 during a ceremony at the Afghan National Police Training Center in Parwan province’s Charikar district.
“Congratulations on your successful graduation,” said ANP Col. Paimon the training center’s commander during a speech to the new guardians. “This nation has many hopes [for you] and you all have to demonstrate to the people that you are serving for them and defending Afghanistan.”
ALP recruits train on a strict regimen that includes Afghan Rule of Law, the Afghan Constitution, countering improvised explosives devices, first aid, and more. The Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan holds ALP to a high standard as the first line of defense in remote areas of Afghanistan.
The recruits celebrated with cheers and handshakes of congratulations to each other at the end of the ceremony. The new guardians plan to return to their villages in Koh-e Safi district and employ their newly acquired skills to bolster security for the villagers.
“Now it is your turn to treat your people well and never use your guns in illegal ways,” Paimon continued. “You all should help your people and serve them with honesty.”
Afghan Local Police are composed of the bravest Afghans willing to fight for the future of their country. Every member is a highly trained expert, willing to defend all Afghans and his country against their enemies.
