2nd MLG holds change of charge ceremony

MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. - Service members from 2nd Marine Logistics Group gathered to hold a change of charge ceremony here Oct. 16.

Master Chief Petty Officer Russel W. Folley passed a naval cutlass, a ceremonial sword, to Master Chief Petty Officer Christopher M. Cain, symbolizing the transfer of responsibilities as the senior enlisted sailor for the group.

Brig Gen. Edward D. Banta, the commanding general of 2nd MLG, formally relieved Folley of his duties and appointed Cain as the command master chief of 2nd MLG during the ceremony.

“I couldn’t do my job without sailors like master chief Folley and command master chief Cain,” said Banta. “The command master chief is responsible for keeping me informed, providing that perspective, insight and the opinions of the things that are important to our Navy personnel.”

Folley, a native of St. Martinville, La., served with the 2nd MLG for three years. He is slated to take his new post at the 2nd Marine Division.

“The sailors and Marines that are out here can accomplish anything,” said Folley. “They’ve done anything and everything that’s ever been asked of them and they’ve made my job easier.”

Cain, a native of Redding, Calif., who previously served at Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth, Va., said he looks forward to working with and for the sailors and Marines of 2nd MLG, as well as their families.
