FORT WAINWRIGHT, Alaska - More than 100 soldiers from the 472nd Military Police Company, 793rd Military Police Battalion, 2nd Engineer Brigade at Fort Wainwright welcomed new commander Capt. Michael Robey during a change of command ceremony that also served as a deployment ceremony for the unit’s upcoming 90-day deployment to Guam in in support of Task force Talon.
Capt. Kimberly DeFiori, the outgoing 472nd MP Company commander, ensured the unit was properly trained up and ready for the deployment before handing over the reins to Robey.
“I can honestly say, Titans are ready for anything,” said DeFiori. “Fort Wainwright makes you a tough and versatile soldier that can fight in any condition.”
She told soldiers of the 472nd to take that strength with them and to continue to be the best soldiers and leaders they could be, and then handed over the unit to their new commander.
Robey, though new to the unit, said many good things about the company and said he looked forward to the deployment, getting to know his soldiers and taking command.
“This company has very strong cohesion and a strong NCO corps,” said Robey. “It should be a smooth transition.”
The company is prepared to conduct site security on Army Terminal Altitude Area Defense systems as well as any other military police tasks needed during their deployment.
