WYTON, United Kingdom - Defense Contract Management Agency Northern Europe marked their move from Loudwater to Royal Air Force Wyton, England, with a ribbon cutting ceremony Aug. 14.
“I am very pleased to be here on Royal Air Force Wyton to participate in the opening celebration of our new office,” said Navy Rear Adm. Deborah Haven, DCMA International commander.
Haven expressed her gratitude to British Army Brigadier Nick Davies and British Royal Air Force Wing Commander Mike Brown for their hospitality and support to Navy Capt. Joe Russell, DCMA NE commander, and his team moving into the facility.
“The DCMA Northern Europe team will now have a wonderful place to work at a secure office location with one of the United States’ strongest allies,” she said.
Haven stressed the important partnership that exists between the United States and United Kingdom.
“I understand that there is a rich aviation history at RAF Wyton, to include the first sortie of World War II taking off,” Haven said. “The U.S. and U.K. were strong allies back then and we have had a long standing partnership. Today, we once again see the importance of our continued partnership.”
RAF Wyton prepared for months for the DCMA NE move from their former location near London. Office refurbishments at RAF Wyton began in February. John Butler, DCMA NE deputy commander, was the mainstay for the RAF transition plan.
An added perk for DCMA NE employees will be the access to RAF Wyton social and sporting clubs, and a fitness center which boasts tennis, squash and handball courts.
Russell assumed command of DCMA NE Feb. 26, and was very involved with his staff in planning for the transition to RAF Wyton over the past six months.
“I appreciate the outstanding support DCMA leadership and the British Ministry of Defense provided us in preparing for the transition to RAF Wyton,” said Russell. “I am especially grateful for the exceptional dedication and tireless commitment of my staff in coordinating and executing this move.”
