KABUL PROVINCE, Afghanistan - Afghan commandos from the 6th Special Operations Kandak killed three insurgents Sept. 9 in Sarobi district’s Jegdalay village.

The Afghan commandos were conducting a clearing operation in the village when insurgents opened fire. The commandos immediately returned fire, killing two. Commandos killed the third enemy fighter with a hand grenade.

No civilians were injured and there were no reported structural damages during this operation.

“We always do everything in our power to ensure the safety of innocent civilians during operations and try our best not to cause damage to mosques, schools and village clinics,” said Lt. Col. Sakhi Tajik, 6th SOK commander. “We are here for the benefit of the people and value their esteem.”

Afghan National Security Forces have irreversibly taken the lead for Afghanistan’s security, underscoring the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan’s Tranche 5, Milestone 2013 announcement this summer.
