NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Army Reserve soldiers spent two weeks providing medical support in four states. Soldiers from the North Little Rock, Ark. based 431st Civil Affairs Battalion and the Buena Park, Calif. / Las Vegas, Nev., based Medical unit trained on providing medical assistance to Blytheville, Ark., Hayti Mo., Dyersburg, Tenn., and Mayfield, Ky.
Soldiers of the 431st Civil Affairs Command and the Western Medical Area Readiness Support Group spent two weeks in four states training and providing medical support.
Residents near the cities of Blytheville, Ark., Hayti, Mo., Dyersburg, Tenn., and Mayfield, Ky., who could not afford medical insurance had the opportunity to receive free medical, dental, optometry, sports physicals and psychiatric evaluations.
In all nearly 4,000 patients were seen.
California soldiers trained working with local officials and residents in
organizing the operation, and medical soldiers trained in providing
medical support.
