FORT SNELLING, Minn. – Representatives from the Army Reserve, Allied Barton Security Services, and the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve attended the signing of a statement of support for the Hero to Hired veterans hiring initiative at Historic Fort Snelling, Minn., Friday.
The agreement was signed by representatives from Allied Barton, the ESGR, and the commanding general of the 372nd Engineer Brigade, Brig. Gen. Robert Carlson and formalizes the company’s regional commitment to give preferential hiring to service veterans as well as continue to be a veteran-friendly workplace.
Allied Barton is a firm specializing in private security for corporate, nonprofit, and government workplaces.
“Allied Barton is committed to hiring our veterans and ensuring they have a great chance at a great career that they already know, ensuring the safety of our citizens. We love their drive, motivation and their discipline, and know they are born to lead and take ownership of their duties and responsibilities. It is the right thing to do,” said Chris McCann, human resources and recruiting training manager for Allied Barton.
Allied Barton works closely with both the Employee Support of the Guard and Reserve and the Hero to Hired program. Both programs are run by the Department of Defense. ESGR works with employers to ensure fair treatment of employees who are service members. Hero to Hired matches military friendly employers with service members, veterans, and family members seeking employment.
Allied Barton has pledged, locally and nationally, to work with ESGR and Hero to Hired to ensure that veterans have opportunities to get jobs that match their skill sets.

Gen. Robert Carlson, commander of the Army Reserve’s 372nd Engineer Brigade, in his closing remarks at the signing ceremony.
The 372nd Engineer Brigade is headquartered in Minneapolis and has units and soldiers in seven states from Ohio to the Dakotas.
