CAMP LEATHERNECK, Afghanistan — Due to the transfer of lead security responsibility to the Afghan National Security Forces, Regimental Combat Team 7 will leave Helmand province in August as the last Marine infantry regimental headquarters to deploy in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
The regiment deployed here from Twentynine Palms, Calif. in October and assumed responsibility as the headquarters for all ground combat units throughout Regional Command Southwest.
