Payson, Ariz., sisters enlist in Marine Corps, take on boot camp together on Parris Island

PARRIS ISLAND, S.C. – Two sisters from Payson, Ariz., decided to enlist in the Marine Corps and take on the challenge of recruit training.

Rct. Taliah Terrack, left, 20, was the first to make the decision to join the Marine Corps.

“I just wanted to serve my country,” said Taliah Terrack. “I wanted a challenge, the toughest one.”

Her sister, Rct. Tasha Terrack, 18, wanted to join the Navy to be a marine biologist. Taliah encouraged Tasha to pursue her dream.

However, Tasha had a change of heart.

Tasha’s interest in the Marine Corps didn’t spark until a Marine recruiter visited their house to speak to Taliah about enlisting. After her sister’s meeting, Tasha sat down to talk to the recruiter. She was then convinced the Marine Corps was the branch she wanted to join.

“I wanted the challenge like my sister and to be with her,” said Tasha.

Taliah is slated to be a logistics specialist and hopes to one day be a Marine Corps officer.

Tasha is slated to be a legal administrator and plans to make a career out of the Marine Corps.

Both sisters are from Platoon 4022, Oscar Company, 4th Recruit Training Battalion, and are scheduled to graduate July 19, 2013.
