FARAH PROVINCE, Afghanistan – Thirty-one new Afghan Local Police recruits graduated from their training programs at the Provincial Training Center in Farah district, Farah province, July 14.
Senior Afghan National Security Forces personnel, including Provincial Chief of Police Gen. Abdul Hakim, provincial ALP commander Rahman and provincial training commander Lt. Col. Mohammadin, recognized the graduates’ commitment to train in order to improve security conditions in Farah.
“Your jobs require personal sacrifice and your sacrifice helps the Afghan people,” said Gen. Hakim. ”You are fighting for your families.”
Afghan National Police trained the recruits for three weeks on patrol techniques, basic first aid, checkpoint operations, counterimprovised explosive device training and fundamentals of marksmanship.
“When you have a weapon, you must be willing to fight for your people and continue what you started,” said Gen. Hakim.
Afghan Local Police compliment counterinsurgency efforts by assisting and supporting rural areas with limited Afghan National Security Forces presence, in order to enable conditions for improved security, governance and development.
The new ALP members add to a growing village-based security force of approximately 545 members in Farah province.
