CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. - Service members with Combat Logistics Battalion 24, Combat Logistics Regiment 27, 2nd Marine Logistics Group and loved ones gathered in a gymnasium here for a traditional ceremony to honor two Marines, July 12.
Lt. Col. Daniel J. Bradley, the commanding officer of CLB-24 relinquished command to Lt. Col. Matthew A. Dumenigo.
Bradley, a St. Louis native, enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1987, was selected for the Marine Enlisted Commissioning Education Program in 1991 and was commissioned a second lieutenant in 1994. He is scheduled to retire after serving in the Marine Corps for more than 2 decades.
“He’s the best logistician I’ve ever known,” said Col. Gary F. Keim, the commanding officer of CLR-27. “The very best logisticians and Marine Corps officers have been placed in CLB-24 on their way to bigger and better things.”
CLB-24 is the battalion responsible for providing tactical logistics support to the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit when it is in a deployed status. The battalion has been in existence since the early 1960s and has served in wars ranging from Vietnam to Operation Enduring Freedom.
Dumenigo, a native of North Dighton, Mass., graduated from Boston College and was commissioned through the Platoon Leaders Course in May 1995.
He has held the billet of regimental executive officer for three years, both in Japan and the United States.
“I’m excited to take over command of CLB-24,” said Dumenigo. “Any opportunity to lead young Marines is great, and now I’ll get to lead them and be responsible for their training.”
