PARRIS ISLAND, S.C. - Recruits of Papa Company, 4th Recruit Training Battalion, endured the effects of tear gas in the gas chamber June 11, 2013, on Parris Island, S.C.

The Marine Corps provides this training so recruits may gain confidence in their abilities to use a gas mask to survive in a chemically or biologically contaminated environment. Papa Company is scheduled to graduate Aug. 2, 2013.
