Babies and banners: homecoming event held for service members returning from six month deployment

CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. – Approximately 130 service members from Combat Logistics Regiment 2, 2nd Marine Logistics Group returned from southern Afghanistan after a six month deployment.

Marines and sailors received a warm welcome from family and friends at a homecoming here, July 1.

Loved ones held up signs as three buses pulled into a maintenance bay, welcomed by screams and shouts of joy, yelling the names of their brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers and friends.

This is the first wave of service members from CLR-2 who returned home. CLR-2 relieved CLR-15 in late January in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

While in Afghanistan the unit was responsible for providing tactical logistics support to units operating throughout Regional Command Southwest while they advised and assisted the Afghan National Security Forces.
