Benjamin Eugene Rankin Jr. is a former soldier and after this special surprise the two will spend the time catching up and touring some of Pvt. Rankin’s favorite places in South Korea.
Pvt. Rankin was working in the battalion’s motor pool before the surprise and believed he was being interviewed by the brigade public affairs office about his role in the tank crew, his choice of job specialty in the military and some of his experiences as a soldier stationed with the Army’s only remaining forward-deployed division, the 2nd Infantry Division.
This is Pvt. Rankin’s first duty station since joining the Army and he has been stationed in Korea since January 2013.
