MARINE CORPS AIR STATION NEW RIVER, N.C. - DeLalio Elementary School students will celebrate Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math week April 15-19 at the school aboard Marine Corps Air Station New River.

The Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math events are an extension to the STEM curriculum integration occurring in the Domestic Dependents Elementary and Secondary Schools (DDESS) which provides an opportunity for students, teachers and parents to engage in hands-on, real-world application and problem solving.

During STEAM week, students will focus on the engineering design process, receive hands-on experiments for grades K-5, increase science and math literacy via collaborative group efforts, and discuss STEAM careers.

An engineer will speak to the students on Monday, April 15, and representatives from NC State University Engineering will speak to the students on Thursday, April 18. A closing ceremony will take place on Monday, April 22.

Media interested in covering this event should contact Cpl. Martin Egnash by 4:30 p.m., Friday, April 12 at martin.egnash@usmc.mil or 910-449-5431.
