Task Force Grizzly donates tractor to Kandahar farmers

Combined Joint Task Force-82

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan – Soldiers from the 207th Infantry Brigade donated a tractor to Kandahar farmers as part of an ongoing initiative to support local farmers.

The farm equipment donation project supports local farmers helping improve the quality of life within local villages and serving to increase goodwill between the coalition forces at Kandahar Air Field and the residents of the local area. This project has resulted in more than $1 million in farm equipment donations in the province.

"We need to focus on projects that will help improve industry, commerce and education, along with improving the quality of life," said Army Col. R. Stephen Williams, 207th Inf. Bde. and U.S. National Command Element (South) commander.

Local leaders thanked Task Force Grizzly for the tractor, and added that it would make them happier if Williams, who is leaving after concluding a yearlong deployment in Afghanistan, would stay rather than to receive the tractor.
