Key Resolve Boots on the Ground: Spc. James Atkinson

WARRIOR BASE, South Korea - Spc. James Atkinson, a wheeled vehicle mechanic with the Eighth Army Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, and Headquarters Support Company, enjoys traveling. He has been in Korea for 14 months and has seen many of the sights the country has to offer including Everland, Seoul Tower, Jeju Island, I’Park Mall and many others.

Atkinson also enjoys music and has attended several concerts since he’s been in Korea.

“I like hip-hop and rap, any kind of music really,” Atkinson said.
Along with traveling and music concerts, another of Atkinson’s enjoys participating in many physical activities.

“I like sports,” Atkinson said. “I play a lot of sports.”

Because Atkinson spends a lot of time seeing the country, he has many opportunities to try the local cuisine.

“The food here is an experience,” Atkinson said. “Some have been better than others, but I enjoy the orange chicken at this one local restaurant.”

The Miami native also has a degree in electrical engineering from Embry Riddle University in Arizona.

Atkinson served in the Air Force before switching over to the Army in 2005. At the end of the day, he enjoys returning home to his two children, he said.
