HEBER SPRINGS, Ark. - The Army Corps of Engineers is taking applications through Dec. 14 for a special youth deer hunt to be held Dec. 20 and 21 in the Old Highway 25 Park at Greers Ferry Lake. Up to three permits will be issued to hunters age 7 to 15.

Old Highway 25 Park will be closed for all use, Dec. 20 through Dec. 21.

A drawing will be held at the Greers Ferry Project Office, Dec. 17. Selected hunters will be contacted by phone or mail. Each will be required to have an assistant at least 21 years of age who holds a valid hunting license and hunter education card. The young hunters will be limited to muzzleloaders only and safe access routes will be provided to all hunting blinds.

Applications may be obtained at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Greers Ferry Project Office, P.O. Box 1088, Hwy 25 N., Heber Springs, AR 72543 (near the dam) or by calling 501-362-2416. Office hours are 7:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. weekdays.
