SAN DIEGO - Senior Chief Information Systems Technician Jeremy Morris received the A. Bryan Lasswell In-Service Engineering Support Award for his excellence in technical support to operating forces Oct. 10 at the National Defense Industrial Association’s Fall Symposium.

Morris, an information systems senior chief, currently serves as the team lead for Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Pacific Pacific’s (SSC Pacific’s) Naval Tactical Command Support System (NTCSS) Branch. He provides comprehensive management and analyst life-cycle support to 141 U.S. Pacific Fleet activities, enabling them to reach their optimum operational readiness. Responsibilities include the expeditious management and review, analysis and resolution of trouble calls for NTCSS, Organizational Maintenance Management System-Next Generation, Relational Supply, and Relational Administrative Data Management systems.

“Receiving this award, having served over 19 years in active duty, is a testament to the work ethic my grandfather and father instilled in me and the dedication both my military and civilian peers and supervisors have in me,” said Morris. “Working at SSC Pacific has been a great opportunity; I truly believe that civilian communities have a wealth of ideas that military members can learn from.”

“With a retirement date of December moving closer, this award highlights that dedication to improving the work environment for your sailors must never end. One must continue to strive to make life environments better for those that follow after them.”

As part of the award, Morris received a trophy, citation, and a $1,000 cash award.

Active duty or civil service employees are eligible for the award, named after U.S. Marine Corps Maj. A. Bryan Lasswell, a cryptologist stationed at Pearl Harbor in 1942. Lasswell worked to decipher radio traffic from the Japanese Navy; his efforts supported the American victory at Midway Island.
