News: Miramar Air Show holds live webcast

MARINE CORPS AIR STATION MIRAMAR, Calif. – A significant portion of the MCAS Miramar Air Show will be carried via live webcast with the Defense Video & Imagery Distribution System from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday.
As the largest military air show in the nation, the Miramar Air Show is held over three days, Oct. 12 – 14, and features military and civilian performers and static aircraft displays from around the world. Notable acts include the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, the Marine Air Ground Task Force demonstration and MV-22 Osprey and F-22 Raptor capability demonstrations.
The theme for this year’s air show is “Marines in Flight: Celebrating 50 Years of Space Exploration.” In honor of this, former astronaut and Marine aviator, retired Maj. Gen. Charles Bolden, Jr., who is currently the Administrator of NASA, is scheduled to speak to the audience during the opening ceremony.
Also, for the first time ever, the air show will feature a dedicated performance by the MV-22 Osprey, showcasing the capabilities of the tilt-rotor aircraft.
