OTIS AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Mass. -- Massachusetts Air National Guardsmen from the 253rd Combat Communications Group and the 267th Combat Communications Squadron successfully completed a combined Unit Compliance Inspection and Operational Readiness Inspection here, Sept. 5-17.

The inspection team from the Air Force Space Command Inspector General's office announced an overall "Excellent" rating for the group’s UCI and a “Satisfactory” rating for the squadron. The squadron also received a “Satisfactory” rating for its ORI.

The inspections evaluated the 253rd CCG and 267th CBCS compliance with Air Force Instructions and policies while carrying out their normal base missions, their readiness to deploy airmen with the correct training and equipment as well as performing core mission tasks in a wide range of scenarios and exercises.

Following the announcement of the inspection results, the AFSPC inspection team praised the participants and told the Airmen their efforts will provide good lessons for other Air Force units in the future.

“Thank you for having us the past two weeks,” said Col. Edward Rimback, AFSPC inspection team leader. “Hopefully you get good lessons from this inspection. I know that we, as an inspection team, will get valuable lessons out of this and will pass along what you all did to the rest of the force. You should take that with great pride.”

Col. Patrick Cobb, 102nd Intelligence Wing commander, addressed the airmen following the results announcement and commended their accomplishments. He noted that one inspection can be stressful enough, but to undergo two back-to-back in less than two weeks is an extremely tough challenge and one they handled with professionalism.

“For you all to take care of a UCI and hop right into an ORI in a two-week cycle is an amazing feat,” Cobb said. “You should be very proud of yourselves. You did an outstanding job and I thank you for what you’ve done here.”
